Who is it for?
The MHFA England 1-day MHFA Champion course is designed for anyone who wants to gain an understanding of common mental health issues and learn skills to support positive wellbeing.
What will I learn on the Mental Health First Aid Champion Course?

Course Structure:
This one day is taught through a mix of group activities, presentation and discussion. The course is built around the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan.
We strive for all of our learning content to be accessible and inclusive as possible. Course numbers are limited to 16 so our Instructors can keep people safe and supported while they learn.

Session 1 (morning)
- About Mental Health First Aid
- About mental health and stress in the workplace
- Depression
- Anxiety disorders
- Other mental health issues (eating disorders, self harm, psychosis)
- Alcohol, drugs and mental health
Session 2 (afternoon)
- Applying the MHFA action plan: ALGEE
- Suicide
- Recovery
- Building a mentally healthy workplace
- Action planning
Everyone who attends the course will get:
- A certificate of attendance to say they are an MHFA Champion
- A manual to refer to whenever they need it
- A quick reference card for the Mental Health First Aid action plan
- A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support your own mental health
Please note, the MHFA Champion Course does not give access to the MHFAider® 3 year Support and Benefits Package, eligibility to join the Association of Mental Health First Aiders nor does the MHFA Refresher training apply.
