We asked Doug a few questions to get to know him better:

What is your career highlight?

In July 2007, the UK Government announced a contract for two Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers for the Royal Navy. Since that moment, I worked with the key suppliers who were part of the Aircraft Carrier Alliance recruiting a diverse range of engineers and specialists across multiple levels. I was then present at Portsmouth Naval Base to see them commissioned and named, which marked a proud moment in my career to see the project through full circle.

I ‘thrive’ when….

I thrive when I spend time with family and friends. I also very much enjoy staying in shape by going to the gym, playing tennis and golf, and going swimming. I would also class myself as a big movie buff, and a big fan of Star Wars, DC, Marvel and Harry Potter.

My favourite band is….

Although not a band, my biggest music influence is Michael Jackson. I was lucky enough to see him at Wembley stadium when I was around 10 years old, and to this day is still the best concert I have ever been to!! His music is so varied, and covers any mood, so never hesitate to play his music when I have the chance. Outside of that, I will listen to most types of music…..apart from ABBA, not a fan at all.

What book would you recommend?

Not a huge book lover I will be honest…..unless you count audio books?? If so, then the Harry Potter books are a great read, and also Lord of the Rings. But my go to books will always be anything by Alan Partridge.
